The United States has many visitors, and a good number of those visitors would like the opportunity to remain in the US. For some people, the only way to accomplish this is to submit to an immigration DNA test. This test is used to establish a biological relationship between a person already in the United States and a person in a foreign country.
Immigration DNA tests are collected similarly to any other DNA test done with a Buccal swab (a long cotton-tipped swab that looks similar to a Q-tip, rubbed inside of the cheek) however, the difference between this and other types of DNA tests is that everything is done to a ‘legal standard’. Immigration DNA tests require a case number from the US Department of homeland security/Immigration; the test must be done to the highest possible legal standards to ensure accuracy, and the test tends to take a while because the foreign embassy will do the collection for the other party involved.
Immigration DNA tests are quite common and the costs are well worth the obvious benefits of being an American citizen. When a biological link has been established, the DNA test will be processed by the US and those who are found to have a biological relationship will be able to help their family member immigrate to the United States.
